Salaam Khalid Zaheer sahib. You wrote, "Quite naturally, if what was achieved intellectually was challenged, the reaction would be intellectual; if it was achieved emotionally, the reaction to its criticism would be emotional".

You are exactly right about it, but my question is, what if the person has very low intellectual level and is illiterate? This is what is happening in some of our madrassas and mosques: some priests are preaching hatred to fulfill their vested or political interest in these institutions and most of the illiterate people are taking this as message from God without even analysing or intellectually challenging it resulting in lot of destruction.

I have heard you say on one of the TV shows and I hope I understood you correctly. You said that in order to find the truth, we should question and research different people and mediums, and try to understand the meaning according to our intellect that suits us best. Then the people who are getting brainwashed to commit the suicide bombings are also justified to do this, as according to their intellect whatever they are doing is correct and they are dieing in the name of God. Please comment on this at your convenience.

I am responding to some emotions of many Muslims. Recently some reactions were visible in the protests against Denmark. Earlier many other reactions have been visible in a number of cases like that of Rushdie. I think by protesting on such issues and running their emotions high, Muslims make a mockery of Islam and provide their enemies with much needed ammunition. Until Muslims stop to react on such matters and not control their emotions, such incidents would continue unabated. I fully agree with the views on this and other related article.

I totally agree with Sir Khalid Zaheer. People are more emotional then intellectual. What Sir Khalid has explained about the emotionally charged people and their reaction whenever something comes up against their point of view is a fact. That is exactly how people behave and that is exactly how they should not behave.
